EAST AFRICAN CROWNED CRANE BIRD

It is also known as 'gray crowned crane', and it spread over dry Savannah in Africa and south of the Sahara.The only gray crowned  crane to take rest on the trees. It is also the national bird of 'Uganda'. bird is powerful flight, but it starts flight with running. It is non-migratory.


The male is little larger.It constructs the nest on the grass land or mass of the tall trees of wet land. They feed on grass seeds,insects and some vertebrates. We can see these birds when these are following the cattle. During breeding time birds perform beautiful displays. Young birds learn dance from their parents. In the crane category, this is the only bird that performs some energetic dance.
